Auditions Announced for "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play"
NOTICE: this show was canceled and will not be performed.
Tibbits Professional Theatre will team with Branch County Community Theatre for a December production of “It’s a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play”. This beloved American holiday classic comes to captivating life as a live 1940s radio broadcast. The feel-good story of George Bailey and his discovery that "no man is a failure who has friends," includes the full radio-show experience with live sound effects, old-time radio ads and carols interspersed through the story. Joe Landry creates a charming adaptation of the popular Frank Capra Film based on “The Greatest Gift” by Philip Van Doren Stern.
Auditions for the community will be Sept 11 and 12 at Tibbits Opera House at 6:30 p.m. each evening.
Auditions will be for singers/ensemble members to round out the professional cast. Auditions are open to any adult or student over the age of 16. Auditionees need only attend one time.
In keeping with the era of this holiday show, those wishing to audition should prepare 32 bars of a 1940s or 1950s Christmas pop-standard such as "White Christmas" or "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas," a standard Christmas carol, or simply a 1940s-type song such as Gershwin or Cole Porter. An accompanist may not be provided at auditions, in which case those auditioning may either sing a Capella or bring their own recorded accompaniment.
Rehearsals will be at regularly scheduled times weeknights through November and December (with some possible initial rehearsals beginning in late October). Performers who accept a role are expected to attend all rehearsals unless conflicts are approved at the time of the audition. Shows will take place Dec 9-10, 16-17 at 7:30pm with 2pm matinees Dec 11, 15, and 17.
Auditions will be held at Tibbits Opera House, 14 South Hanchett Street, Coldwater, Mich. For more information call 517.278.6029 or visit Tibbits.org.

The ABCs of LGBT at the Rainbow Valley B 'n' B
By Phil Darg
"The ABCs of LGBT at the Rainbow Valley B 'n' B", by Phil Darg
A conservative Pastor and his insecure wife arrive at a B 'n' B in Vermont in order to take in the “fall colors.” However, an early snowstorm strands them at the inn with its gay owners and lesbian guest couple. Forced together for the weekend, the six openly express their vastly different opinions on LGBT issues while examining their own relationships-leading to humorous confrontations, shifting alliances, and finally, a degree of understanding between all members of the group.
With a cast of six, this touching comedy takes a lookat possibilities when we can come together to discuss our differences and arrive at acceptance, love and even friendship. This subject matter may not be suitable for young audiences.

There is one simple pleasure that’s eluded Joan Gerson for her entire life: cat ownership. Now, while time remains, she wants to remedy that. So Joan and her daughter have gone to the local animal shelter, where Joan developed an instant bond with a fuzzy, gray kitten. Only things seem to have changed at the shelter—you can't just take your chosen animal home; you first have to pass muster with a pet adoption counselor during a home visit. By Mark Jay Rosen
Who are we? Freud opines the psyche is made of three parts—Id, Ego and Super Ego—each contributing to create the whole persona. What if we were to separate ourselves into this trio? What if this trio is at cross purposes? Imagine your inner self at war with who you love, how you live, or your goals in life.
Meet Jim, a college psych major focused on end-of-school exams. Meet Sylvia, his demanding girlfriend of one year who orchestrates her own engagement to Jim. Fast forward to a hit on the head and all of a sudden Jim splits into his Id, Ego and Super ego. Chaos ensues as his Super Ego and Id go out into the world with their own agenda. Does Jim Id find love with Mary, even though Mary is already dating Doug, a man with big plans? Does Jim Super Ego fight to keep Sylvia, his ideal, and who is Dr. Olga, and does she solve the mystery of the three Jims?

Ho, Ho, Ho: The Santa Claus Chronicles
Ho ho ho! Here’s a fast, lighthearted Christmas play with plenty of small roles to give everyone their moment in the spotlight. We join the host for a special live edition of “The Santa Claus Chronicles” at the North Pole just a few days before Christmas. We start with a press conference where Saint Nick’s press secretary answers reporters’ questions about the jolly guy. What’s his favorite food? How does he know who’s naughty and nice? We also meet the elves, Eeny, Meeny, Miney, and Sol, who take care of the reindeer, and we hear from the elves who work the gift suggestion hotline. But the biggest mystery at the North Pole is where Mrs.Claus has disappeared to. Just what is she up to? Find out in a surprising ending that will leave a smile on everyone’s face.
Directed by Laurie Ludlow

The Snow Queen is one of Hans Christian Andersen's most highly acclaimed stories. The story centers on the struggle between good and evil as experienced by Gerda and her friend, Kai.
This famous fairy tale was the original source material (heavily edited in the end) for Disney's Frozen animated feature movie.

The Mousetrap
Branch County Community Theatre is presenting Agatha Christie’s The Mousetrap on October 8, 9 and 10 at 7:30 p.m. The Mousetrap is currently celebrating its 63rd year in London as a record breaking run during which over 25,000 performances have been given making it the longest running stage production in history.
The play began life as a short radio play broadcast on 30 May 1947 called Three Blind Mice in honor of Queen Mary, the consort of King George V. The play had its origins in the real-life case of the death of a boy, Dennis O'Neill, who died while in the foster care of a farmer and his wife in 1945.
In this murder/mystery a group of strangers is stranded in a boarding house during a snow storm, one of whom is a murderer. The suspects include the newly married couple who run the house, and the suspicions in their minds nearly wreck their perfect marriage. Others are a spinster with a curious background, an architect who seems better equipped to be a chef, a retired Army major, a strange little man who claims his car has overturned in a drift, and a magistrate who makes life miserable for everyone. Into their midst comes a policeman, traveling on skis.

Curtains
The Musical Comedey Murder Mystery
Curtains is a hilarious send-up of backstage murder mystery plots, set in 1959 Boston, and follows the fallout when the supremely untalented star of Robbin' Hood of the Old West is murdered during her opening night curtain call. It is up to Lt. Frank Cioffi, a police detective who moonlights as a musical theater fan to save the show, solve the case, and maybe even find love before the show reopens, without getting killed himself.
Directed by Diane Harmon and Carla Ram
Musical Direction by Kathleen Warriner
Performed May 7, 8, 9, 2015 at the Tibbits Opera House.

Night Comes Early
By Burton Bumgarner
Night Comes Early is a parody on community theater. Tired of the standard fare of comedies set in NYC, a community theater director wants to put on a psychological melodrama set in Yorkshire, England. The cast is made up of the director, the director's professional actress daughter, the local sheriff, an 8th grade English teacher, the Lutheran pastor's wife, an undertaker and two ex convicts who go about creating the roles in a unique and alternative fashion.
Directed by J. R. Colbeck
Performed March 5, 6, 7, 2015 at the Tibbits Opera House.

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever
Shazam!
The Best Christmas Pageant Ever tells the story of the delinquent Herdman children—Imogene, Claude, Ralph, Leroy, Ollie, and Gladys—who engage in misfit behavior for their age, such as smoking, drinking jug wine, and shoplifting. They go to church for the first time after being told that the church offers snacks. Despite protests from other church members, they are given roles in the Sunday school's Christmas play, in which they tell the Christmas story in a humorously non-traditional fashion.
Directed by Chris Howell.
Performed December 5, and 6 at the Bronson Theatre and December 11, 12, and 13 at the Tibbits Opera House.

Dracula
"Listen to them, the children of the night. What music they make!"
"I want your fear. For your fear, like a current, rushes through your body. Your fear makes your heart pound, it renders your veins rich and full. Your fear hemorrhages deliciously within you." This new adaptation restores the suspense and seduction of Bram Stoker's classic novel to the stage. As Count Dracula begins to exert his will upon the residents of London, they try to piece together the clues of his appearances—in a valiant attempt to save themselves from a hideous fate. Rich with both humor and horror, this play paints a wickedly theatrical picture of Stoker's famous vampire.
